The Shanti Project grew out of New Visions: Alliance to End Violence in Asian/Asian American Communities. New Visions is a collaboration of community members, domestic violence programs, and other related organizations. Since 2002, New Visions has been working with the South Asian communities of Southeast Michigan to identify innovative and effective ways to end domestic violence. The Shanti Project builds on what we have learned through New Visions's work and will serve as a model to be adapted for different Indian and other immigrant communities.

Together, we hope to create a community free of violence!
